The Regional Municipality of York’s housing corporation, Housing York Inc. (HYI), was established in 2003.  As York Region's largest community housing provider, HYI manages 37 properties with a mix of townhouses and apartments, including 24 senior communities, six mixed household communities, and seven family communities.  These properties offer a combination of subsidized (77%) and market rent (23%) units across York Region. Additionally, HYI owns seven emergency and transitional housing developments, supporting regional homelessness programs through property management and capital repairs.  Managing over 3,027 units, HYI serves over 4,500 residents, focusing on supporting successful tenancies, and fostering resident engagement.
